Revolution x Soph Extra Spice Eyeshadow Review & Swatches.

Revolution is quite a controversial makeup brand. It's a little like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. I for one, love it. I love that they create cheaper alternatives to high end brands, dupes if you like. I am such a makeup fan, I love wearing it and I love collecting it too. I don't mind spending money on makeup but sometimes I like to save a little on makeup too.

Now if you know me, you will know I am beyond obsessed with eyeshadow palettes, I have around 50 in my collection. Yes, I know quite obsessive but they are my thing. When I first heard Makeup Revolution were collaborating with Soph I was excited, I was even more excited when I saw the first palette. It was such a fun looking palette and I couldn't wait to purchase it. The Revolution x Soph palette | £10 was released and I bought it straight away. I loved it. It's fun with a tonne of wearable shades but also pops of colour too. When I heard that Soph was collaborating with Revolution again, I was equally as excited. The Revolution x Soph Extra Spice | £10 was released and although I didn't run and purchase it straight away, I was excited to get my mitts on it at some point.
The first thing that draws you to the palette is the packaging, it's different to the original in the sense that this one has a mirrored rose gold lid, something which screams 'blogger' to me. It's beautiful. A little bit of a disappointment is that this palette contains 18 shadows and the original one contained 24. However, the 18 shadows are beautiful, there is a mixture of matte and shimmer shadows and there is again, a mixture of more wearable shades, such as cheesecake, cookie dough, chocolate orange and brownies - my kind of shades anyway! There is then more 'out there' shades such as, vitamin c, twenty one and infinity (what a shade that one is!!)
The shades are all super pigmented, easily blend-able and have great staying power. I always find that no matte what the palette or what the brand, the shadows have fall out and this palette is no different. Especially the shimmer shades. There is a lot of fall out in the shimmer shades but honestly, that doesn't bother me. A thing I have realised is that some of the shades are quite similar in the two palettes, I'd say with 3 or 4 of them are anyway.
For £10, you really cannot complain. It's a beautiful palette. I've seen a lot of people saying that you don't need both palettes, but I disagree, they are different (apart from the 4 similar shades) but maybe that's just the eyeshadow palette junkie in me.

Do you own this palette? What are your thoughts?

  3. I love Revolution too as they have some great products, I do understand some people not enjoying the dupes though! I haven’t tried either of the Soph palettes but you’ve made me really want to get this one, the shades look super pigmented! X

  5. That's a really good price for such a big palette. The colours are amazing, and could be blended in lots of different ways, for day time and evening wear.
